Comments:
Broker,

Where do you think these earnings reports put the market. The Dow lifted from early morning lows... and I'm wondering where you think it will go from here.

Also, do you think N. Korea's jibber-jabba will change anything?

I think the earnings, so far, confirms a slowdown-- especially in the semi's.

Tomorrow keep a close eye on AMD's numbers to see if INTC is regaining market share or if there is genuine growth in the pc industry.

The NVLS and MOT misses were really ugly and conventional wisdom says the market will sell off.

However, tomorrow's CPI number is likely to rule the day.

As for N. Korea:

I don't think it changes anything. But, a democratic House and Senate will. And, so far, noone is talking about it. Strange.

Hope no one shorted YHOO going into earnings. Looks like people liked what they had to say.

The numbers were awful. Sheeple are buying in the AH's will likely get hurt.

I smell a downgrade.

Earnings newbies listen up - good earnings mean a stock will go down because it has no place else to go in an impending recession - bad earnings, especially from a stock that has already prerun the announcement, means a stock will go up because it's already at the bottom.

I learned this at least one lost fortune ago - earnings mean everything unless they mean nothing.

Broker A is correct - only the CPI number matters today - no one was expecting stellar earnings.
