Sector Spotlight: Financials

About a few weeks ago, I quit drinking coffee. I didn't quit because of the caffeine or the unhealthy portions of sugar "The Fly" puts in his Starbucks cup. After all, I get plenty of caffeine and sugar from my fucking Monster Energy soda.

Look you, I have little desire to be an old coffee drinking tool, who ponders retarded questions, such as: freshly brewed versus instant or milk versus cream?

Fuck that.

Plus anyway, I thought it would make a fine sacrifice to the stock God's. You know, the mysterious entity that makes my stocks go up.

Let's call a spade a spade here. "The Fly" has been the recipient of a few losing trades, recently. As you know, this circumstance he finds himself in is most unnatural and must be dealt with immediately.

Hence, the sacrifice of coffee consumption, as delicious as it may be, to the fucking stock God's.

As for today's trading:

I'm shocked the market isn't down, in light of that European bank getting its face ripped off. Sometimes the market doesn't make any sense.

With my money, stubbornly, I will short more LAZ and buy more SRS. There is no way, on God's green printing press, LEH posts a good number. No fucking way.

Despite broader market strength, the financials are weak, with losses in CCRT, BCS, TMA and MER.

As for my holdings:

"The Fly" is enjoying early gains in EJ, VMI, FMCN, LNN, FTK, UNG and LAZ (short).

I expect to sell short LAZ again. Then after I short it, I will do it again, and again and again.

Comments:
I'm back, and I've brought the bear with me.

Fly,

Screw that. To paraphrase Charlton Heston, "They can have my coffee cup when they pry it from my cold dead fingers."

Yeah, meant to thank you for that NTRI heads up.

Fly agrees with the leeches about LEH? What the fuck?

TXN,INTC hanging tough on Dow decline.

Couldn't you make a similar sacrifice through only drinking coffee from McDonald's (MCD)?

Now you are going to have to get a pair of those handgrippy squeezy things in order to make up for the caloric burn deficit resulting from the lack of hauling ass to the coffee machine, and back.

Cynical Person's Movie Recommendation:

Thank You for Smoking

Fly,

Okay, your stubborness has convinced me to short LAZ. I got short a few hundred at $41.92.

I think no matter what the FED does, the market takes a hit tomorrow.

Meanwhile, does LEH report pre-open tomorrow or after the close. Yahoo says, "Time not supplied."

-DT

DT-Not sure, but I believe the investment bankers always reported in the past before the market opens.

TC,

Thanks, Briefing says pre-open.

That's good, because I like to know if I'll be killed at 9:30 as opposed to having to wait all day to be killed.

MVIS wears pink shirts/ties, tassled loafers, and excessive amounts of hair gel.

Too bad you sold FCX so quickly. Was it the P/E? The earnings? The gold? The copper? What will please The Fly?

*All in SRS

US house prices are likely to fall significantly from their present levels, Alan Greenspan has told the Financial Times, admitting that there was a bubble in the US housing market.
In an interview ahead of the release on Monday of his widely-anticipated memoirs, the former chairman of the Federal Reserve said the decline in house prices "is going to be larger than most people expect".

No one give a shit about your obsession with RIMM.

Fuck off old man. Fuck off.

You shaved the goat herder beard, started going to the gym and gave up coffee...Please don't tell us you switched from oatmeal to flax seed...

This market could use a big old bowl of oatmeal right about now.

pay attention A - you would have done well over the last 3 weeks - no one is invulnerable - you can protect your position by other means - as for fucking off - that's what I do all day - quite the day

I'm pretty sure that if MaVIS were guest starring on "ER," the haggard, Yugoslavian looking guy would be putting away his paddles and "calling" her, about now.

Seriously--

Peachin'--

You are driving me fucking crazy with your spam-like posting.

Can you fucking post this shit on your blog, instead?

Why do you insist to post the same fucking thing, over and over and over.

You're going to single handedly force me to switch to haloscan comments, so that I may ban you.

BIDrU is punching the lights out of (famous short selling Swiss prig) Hans Brix right now.

Aside -- not sure how old "The Fly/Broker A" is, but my earliest memory of my beloved football Giants starts right around the time Lawrence Taylor was drafted. I remember we had good linebackers already, but this guy was going to make our corps the best in the League (that's what Dad said at least).

So I've seen some bad Giant teams (though not the worst, which I understand was the mid-70's) in my time. The one saving grace was they always had a decent defense.

The team I watched yesterday micturates on that legacy. An embarassment. Seriously considering giving up my seasons... something I've never even contemplated before.

jake--

I'm feelin the pain too. As a lifetime Giants fan, I am surprised at my apathy this year toward the G-men.

I may go with my #2 this year -- Denver. At least they started out 2 -0.

That was some sneaky shit they pulled yesterday on Janacowski.

I'm of the mind they should ban "last second" TO's on field goals. Okay if you want to "ice him" but calling time out right before the snap is bush league.

any comments on the GCI for MNST rumors du jour?
